From lions, tigers and bears to penguins, alpacas and reindeer,
Greater Green Bay's wild side offers a variety of ways to get
up close and personal with nature. Many of Greater Green Bay's
wildlife experiences even have special displays of native
Wisconsin animals, so visitors can explore the wild side of
their own backyards.
Greater Green Bay
This 700-acre wildlife refuge is home to
more than 3,500 ducks & geese and a native Wisconsin animal
exhibit area. Stop in the Nature Education Center, Observation/Rehabilitation
Building, Woodland Building, Resch Conservation Wing and Gift
Shop. There are 6.2 miles of hiking and cross-country ski
trails and many picnic areas. Free admission. Open year-round,
Apr 15-Sept 14 8am-7:30pm; Sept 15-Apr 14 8am-4:30pm.

Enjoy a day of feeding the goats, petting
the ponies and sheep, or watching the ducks and geese. There
is also a picnic area by a pond where you can relax while
the children play in tractor tires filled with sand. Admission

Celebrate
the enduring partnership of plants and people
in 47-acres of beautiful gardens and natural
areas. The Green Bay Botanical Garden is
designed with display gardens that capture
the beauty of Northeastern Wisconsin's four
distinct and wonderful seasons. Many special
events include the popular Garden Fair,
Garden Walk and Garden of Lights. Classes
available. Admission charged. Open year-round.

This state-designed wildlife nature area
along the west shore on Green Bay has long been noted for
its abundance of wildlife. Barkhausen has been a long time
favorite among residents for hiking and cross-country skiing
through the area marshes, woods, and meadows. The interactive
displays on native plants and animals are very informative.

This
ever changing and growing zoo features a 43-acre natural exhibit
area. A Children's Zoo gives the little ones a hands-on experience.
Wisconsin, Prairie, International, and Northern Trail animal
exhibits provide glimpses of Austrailian wallabies, African
lions, bison, reindeer, and penguins to name a few.
The zoo is accredited by the American Zoo
and Aquarium Association and is a breeding and survival center
for endangered species. Special events such as "Zoo Boo"
for Halloween and "Walk the Wild Lights" in December
are presented throughout the year. Admission charged.
