Set in the rolling hills and country roads of Greater Green Bay,
the village of Mishicot stands as a shining example of classic
small-town Americana.
Although not officially founded until 1847,
Mishicot can trace its roots back to the first sawmill built
by Daniel Smith in 1844. And while times have changed since
then, the residents of Mishicot take pride in creating a friendly
and relaxed atmosphere for visitors stopping by for an afternoon
or a lifetime.
Outdoor fun abounds in the Mishicot area.
Enjoy a relaxing day of hiking
on the scenic Ice Age Trail. Take a stroll through town and
enjoy the covered bridge. Cast a line in pursuit of that trophy
fish in the East Twin River as it meanders through the middle
of town. Take a swing at a hole in one at Fox
Hills Resort.
Stop
at Village Park, located in the heart of town, and enjoy baseball,
tennis, horseshoes, a climb on the Wooden Wonderland or a
walk along the river's edge. Even hop aboard a snowmobile
and take to the network of trails for some pulse-quickening
fun.
If indoor fun is more your speed, take a
look at the unique lineup of antique
and gift shops that Mishicot has to
offer. Built in 1905, the 15,000 square-foot
Old School features one of the largest collections
of Norman Rockwell paintings and plates,
along with a large selection of Fontanini
and Frances Hook collectibles. RiverEdge
Galleries houses an ever-changing array
of unique art and original paintings, featuring
changing exhibitions by leading Wisconsin
and national artists. Adjacent
to the gallery is an award-winning sculpture
landscaped garden overlooking the East Twin
River.
And after a day of chasing birdies and pars
on the golf course, pursuing
that perfect gift addition for your home, or just meandering
along the river, Mishicot's lineup of small-town dining
experiences are sure to please, with everything from American
home cooking to Italian pizza and pasta.
Mishicot's many festivals and events are
sure to please. In early July, Mishicot Fest is held on the
grounds of Fox Hills Resort, with an exciting fireworks show
at night. On the last weekend in July, RiverFest entertains
with its great food, live music and Sunday parade.
